The First Lady Bug (Lady Bird) of Summer

I know this sounds lame, but I am SO excited!  We have the first Lady Bug of the Summer in our garden.  They have been so slow in coming, I was worried we wouldn't have any at all!  

I was desperate to take her photograph but she wouldn't stand still.

You'd be surprised how fast these little creatures can travel!

She even took evasive action by walking upside-down and under the leaves.   Seeing her reminded me of the old nursery rhyme in my big Mother Goose book....

Ladybird, ladybird,
Fly away home,
Your house is on fire
And your children all gone;
All except one
And that's little Anne,
And she has crept under
The warming pan!
