Bridport or Notting Hill on the Sea

There are places that you can visit time and time again and they never loose their charm.  For me, BRIDPORT in Dorset is one of those places.

Bridport is an ancient market town and it still buzzes with shoppers. There are more bakeries, butchers and eateries than you can shake a stick at.

There has been a bakery at Leakers location since the 18th century. On busy days, customers cue out on the pavement to purchase LEAKERS BAKED GOODS.

In Bridport, you can find everything from kitchen goods to kitsch.  Are you looking for a special outfit for a garden party?  SNOOKS THE HATTERS has just the thing for tea with the Queen or the Mad Hatter.

Even the charity shops are charming.  The Cancer Research charity shop is housed in a building erected in the 1600's.

Bridport's buildings are spectacular and varied.   It's worth a trip just to see the architecture.

When it's time for lunch or a coffee, you will be spoilt for choice.

Today, we had lunch at the historic Bull Hotel.  I'll spare you the details but the treacle tart and bread pudding were fantastic!  After lunch, we visited the oldest family run butchers in Britain..... but that's a story for another day.

  4. So lovely to see Bridport again on your pictures. I spent there a holiday some years ago. I am from the Netherlands and an anglophile, many holidays are spent in England, I love their gardens, their nature and public footpaths, the old architecture, the scones with clotted cream and old second hand bookshops and charity shops. Your Dust Bunny looks fat and sweet too. I will be a new follower.
    Regards, Janneke
