Rose Petals for Breakfast
You won't believe this... I didn't believe it, but I HEARD this before I saw it!
It was very early this morning, long before anyone else was awake. I was making my usual dawn survey of my garden when I heard a soft munching, crunching sound.
It was very near but there wasn't anyone else around. Or so I thought, looking down I saw this!
Now, I don't usually like slugs. The truth is they give me the creeps, but this little fellow was having such a lovely breakfast of fallen rose petals, I had to stop and watch him.
I would have loved to see him finish his meal but he was a VERY slow eater and I have lots to do today. I must say, I rather envy his leisurely brunch of delicate rose petals.

I think I would have the screaming abdabs if I hear a slug eating breakfast. I just discovered one clinging to the willow in my soaking tank and shrieked loud enough to wake the occupants of the churchyard next door!
ReplyDeleteUsually I'd don the Marigolds and remove a slug from the premises but this little guy had charisma and a HUGE appetite! I hope he knows how lucky he was.
DeleteWow - he's really tucking in!
ReplyDeleteAnd he was LOUD! It seems slugs aren't taught table manners.
Deletecute slug, I never heard speedy(are snail if you forgot)eat! That's so funny! Hope to have a new post on out blog Love, Sara;)
ReplyDeleteHave you ever given Speedy flowers to eat? I bet he would LOVE them! : )x
ReplyDeleteYikes!! Well, at least he was not eating your veg!
ReplyDeleteThey ate all the veg a long time ago! : )
DeleteHa! I didn't realize Sara had already commented on this one! Great minds think alike though because as I was reading the post I was wondering if Speedy would like a flower petal once in a while. So far the daily lettuce seems to be working okay but really, something new might be a welcomed change. Nature really is amazing, isn't it?! God is a genius. ;)
ReplyDeleteI can't believe Speedy is still going! Obviously he is getting great care and lots of love.
