The Rabbit's Potting Shed

I am a big Beatrix Potter fan.  I love her children's stories, which are just as entertaining for adult readers.  Most of all I love her illustrations.

Charming as her characters may be, if you look closely you will see that each creature is anatomically correct.  Take a few moments to study these beautifully painted bunnies and you will see what I mean.  Most of all, I love the whimsical idea of a rabbit with a potting shed.

  1. That is a lovely illustration - she was such a talented lady. I haven't read the books for years something I must remedy. Have you ever visited any of her houses - they are almost like stepping into one of her books, and they have the original paintings there too.

    1. We were fortunate enough to visit Hill Top a few years ago. It was charming! It is easy to think of Beatrix Potter as a children's author but there was so much more to the lady.

  2. I hadn't thought of that. I did get some Beatrix Potter books after I went to The World of Beatrix Potter, so I could have a look. I (like Alice) do wish more book had illustrations.

    1. I love illustrations. If you think about it, picture books are probably where most children are introduced to art.

    2. That's so true. And animation (when I was a kid, it was all hand-drawn/painted). I never went to art galleries until I was in my late teens.
