First Spring Flowers 2018

It's been a wild, wet, winter.... actually, it wasn't a bad winter just a rough early spring.  For the first time in almost a decade we had real snow, and it wasn't just one big snow but two!  Most people around here hated it.  I was like a little kid and couldn't contain my delight.  But Spring will have her way and winter is well and truly over!

All of the early spring flowers are waking up, well with all the cold showers they've had lately they would.

We've been flooded, blown about by gales, and had the occasional hour or two of sunshine, just enough to bring the blossom out.

Today it is grey again but the tulips are bright enough.

Little Forget-Me-Nots are always cheerful, regardless of the weather.

Even the daffodils have put on their ruffled petticoats for the occasion.  Spring has finally arrived... you just have to wear your wellies and raincoat to enjoy it.

  1. I love seeing your flowers, Debs. That daffodil is very unusual! I live in Maryland and I have periwinkle, crocus and daffodils in bloom and the little bulbs that spring up in the grass--planted by squirrels I suspect. That is all. The only tree blooming is the Star Magnolia. But we are to have two days of 80 degree weather the end of this week then back down into the 50's during the day for the coming week and close to freezing at night.

    1. Thank you, Cathy. When I lived in Missouri the temperature almost always dropped below freezing when the magnolias were in bloom. It was so sad to see the blossom turn brown from the frost. With 80 degree weather the spring flowers will explode into bloom.
