Blooming Border

I am about to state the blooming obvious, I am not much of a gardener.  There isn't any rhyme or reason to my planting.  If I love something I just shoehorn it in somewhere.

The best thing you can say about our front border is that it's full of flowers.

I figure this is about as good as it's going to look this summer.

So I thought I'd share a few photos with you.

There are plenty of different plants to come but the late spring profusion of blooms always seems the prettiest to me.

I started out with a colour scheme years ago.  It was rather like the colour wheel moving from one segmented hue to the next.  But as time has gone by Nature took over the garden design.

Plants started to move from one part of the border to another.  And you know what, it looks much better than what I had planned.

I just let it do as it pleases.  If something really offends me, I yank it out!

When a new plant takes my fancy, I find a relatively empty spot and stuff it in!

I know, it's a garden designer's nightmare: traditional, too many different colours and no real style...

But early in the morning with a cup of tea and a little black cat following me around, I really enjoy the garden with it's jumble of flowers.  And to me, that's what a garden is all about!

  1. We have a corner in our garden that houses what I refer to as wild flowers as I have never planted anything in my life.... But I love the randomness of the corner and I love the carefree-ness (is that a word) of your border! :0)

    1. I am a firm believer that no one can garden as good as Nature so your wild flower garden must be beautiful. I am very pleased you like the carefree-ness of my border. I think that's a great word and a very kind compliment. Thank you! : )

    1. Thank you! It's more of a 'mixed-up' border than a mixed border. : )

  3. I love your garden design! It is really lovely, and flowers like to grow between others! It let them grow and bloom better with different "neighbours"!

    1. There is an old saying, If it isn't broke don't fix it. As long as the plants continue to thrive I am leaving nature to take her course! : )
