Lovely Lacock

Take a look at the photos of this village.  Does it look familiar to you?  Imagine there are no cars or delivery vans.  You probably have seen this village many times before. It was used in the television series Cranford  and in the BBC's production of Pride and Prejudice and in the Harry Potter movies.  This is Lacock.

This ancient village is busy, bustling and beautiful and will make you feel as if you are in Charles Dickens'  Christmas Carol.

Andy and I visited Lacock today and took lots of photographs.  We had a delicious lunch in one of the haunted pubs and visited Lacock Abbey.  I'll tell you more about it soon. In the mean time, let's have a look at  some of shops of Lacock or is that Cranford?

Lacock is lovely, isn't it?  Next time we will visit the haunted pub, The Sign of the Angel.

  1. I really love those „typically“ English houses! When I was a student (centuries ago….) a girl-friend and I used to travel through UK as backpackers. And looking at your wonderful photos of English countryside, reminds me always of those great times we had there!

    1. There are so many beautiful places to see and so little time to visit them. I try to remember every detail. Thank goodness we have photographs that we can share. : )

  2. Etre maire d'une ville de ce genre j'interdirais le stationnement des voitures devant les maisons...ça gâche tout. Mais je me ferais haïr !

    1. In a perfect world, there would be a way to hide all the ugly modern things which spoil the beauty of these ancient places. I am so grateful that they have survived and haven't been destroyed to make way for modern 'improvements'.
