Blue Skies

I was sitting in the garden, cat at my feet, cup of tea in hand, not really thinking of anything much when it struck me - how blue the sky is today!

I mean, really blue!  The clouds look like they were painted by a child, perfect, round and fluffy.  They mirror the treetops in shape.

You know how it is, once you get an idea or concept in your mind, you can't shake it.  Blue was lodged in my head and I started to see blue in every corner of the garden.

So for fun, I grabbed my camera to see how many blue things I could find in the garden.   Like this little bunny hiding under the blue lobelia flowers...

And the blue flower pots.

I've planted lots of lobelias.  It's one of my favourite annual flowers and they are very blue against the yellow of the nasturtiums.

I even have blue gardening clogs!   It really is a 'Blue Monday', but in the nicest way.  And the sky.... it's SO blue!

  1. I love it when the sky looks like it's been tinted in photoshop - I always point it out to Mr CC (who feigns interest) so it's nice to see someone else notices these things!

    1. Maybe it's a 'girl thang' but if you don't notice how can you enjoy? At least Mr.CC feigns interest so he gets a point for that! : )

  2. I love blue flowers, blue fireworks and bright blue skies! I think because blue flowers are so uncommon, they stand out that much more. The purple/blue hyndrangea is one of my favorites...both color and scent have something to do with that. I also love the idea of this post. Pick a color and run with it! I bet the girls will have fun picking a color and thinking up a post they can write. Thanks! xoxo

    1. Another idea would be shapes; hearts, spirals, star-shapes. I think anything that makes children stop and observe, really LOOK is a good idea. It's good for us grown-ups, too. We don't slow down and really enjoy the beauty around us. That's modern life I suppose. I can't wait to see what the girls choose. XxX

  3. Although I do really, really like hydrangeas, what I meant to write is hyacinth. Blue hyacinth are one of my favorites! Delicious scent, awesome color!

    1. I love hyacinths but I think I like the scent of lily of the valley just as much. I have tried to grow lilies of the valley but I haven't had much luck, yet. My hyacinths do pretty well in the garden. Do you ever force hyacinth bulbs to grow in the house? They are really popular as Christmas gifts here.
